Description
This black-and-white photo shows workers stringing tobacco leaves inside a curing barn of the Porto Rico American Tobacco Corporation (P.R.A.R.Co.). Several workers can be seen inside, handling large tobacco leaves that are being hung to dry on wooden beams. This image provides a glimpse into the traditional methods of tobacco processing and the working conditions in Puerto Rico’s agricultural industry at the turn of the 20th century.
