The Library of Congress's Puerto Rico at the Dawn of the Modern Age collection provided crucial visual documentation of Puerto Rico during the American colonial period. The Archives of the Puerto Rican Diaspora at CUNY and the University of Connecticut's Puerto Rican Study Guide contributed valuable primary source materials that helped shape our understanding of this pivotal historical moment.
This project was developed in collaboration with Mission US (www.mission-us.org), a series of free educational games that immerse young people in U.S. history, and Electric Funstuff. Working closely with David Langendoen, Executive Producer at Electric Funstuff, we designed historical inquiry activities that complement the Isla Preciosa game narrative and support middle school students in developing historical thinking skills. The project draws on scholarly work including Jorell Meléndez-Badillo's Puerto Rico: A National History to ensure historical accuracy and incorporate contemporary historical perspectives.
