This archive is a collection of items that complement the digital exhibit, “Soil, Seeds & Public Space: A Hundred Years of New York City Community Gardens” and seeks to explore four distinct areas of the city’s community garden history. These topics include the Progressive era’s School Garden Movement, World War II era Victory Gardens, community garden activism in the 1970s, and community gardens under the Rudy Guiliani and Mike Bloomberg administrations.
