Cornelia Conway Fenton Horsford (1861-1944)
Cornelia "Nellie" Conway Fenton Horsford was an 8th generation descendant of the Sylvester family. During her lifetime, Sylvester Manor served as a summer home for the family -- a drastic change from the manor's past uses. This selection from Cornelia's diary, written when she was twenty-one years old, shows her deep connection to summers at Shelter Island and the influence they had on her girlhood and womanhood.
